With Direct Cremation the deceased is in the care of the hospital while the necessary forms and certificates are completed and submitted for approval. It is usually possible to view the deceased at the hospital during this period. At the appointed time the deceased is taken directly to the crematorium. This keeps overheads down and means Low Cost for our clients. With most low cost, direct cremations relatives and friends do NOT attend the actual cremation indicated by such phrases as “private cremation” and “at a crematorium and time of our choosing”. This often causes disappointment and the low cost option to be rejected. We welcome relatives and friends to attend, they decide which crematorium is used and other details including if a religious ceremony or less formal farewell is required. WHAT SERVICES DOES CREMATION-LOW-COST-DIRECT PROVIDE? Cremation requires 3 different stages of organisation: (1) Filling the forms the law requires before taking them to the crematorium and liaising with both the hospital and crematorium to ensure there are no delays. (2) Deciding with the family any readings and music required for the service. (3) Transporting the deceased at the appointed time from the hospital to the crematorium to place the coffin in the chapel a short time before the service. Often the less formal ceremony can be a more emotional and rewarding farewell. WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE CREMATION-LOW-COST-DIRECT? Informality: With most funerals the arrival of the hearse and then 4 or 6 bearers bringing the coffin into the chapel establishes a very formal atmosphere which then persists. Many and especially the elderly say the do not want a lot of fuss and would be happier with just a few close friends and relatives there to say a few kind words. With the coffin already in place people often go to the coffin, hold it and even speak while there. A friendly and natural way to say goodbye. Low Cost: The average cost of a cremation in UK is now over £ 4000. This is justified by the high cost of overheads and the services provided. It is unfair to compare my simple, friendly service with their more formal ceremony. Only clients can decide how necessary these the additional expenses are or if they are happy to make their own way to the crematorium and start the service with the coffin already in place,
